CBD in detail

CBD (cannabidial) is one of the least active of the cannabinoids, yet can have dramatic effects on improving ones health. It is a phytocannabinoid and exists in the Cannabis plant in levels of up to 40% of plant extract. It has shown increasing benefits for people suffering from Dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that plagues people from birth and then continues to get worse. It does so by blocking certain receptors in the brain which scientists are currently trying to pinpoint. It does so without giving off a psychoactive effect like most drugs including other cannabinoids. It has also shown to have anti psychotic effects in patients who suffer from psychosis. It has also shown great benefit in calming the effects of other cannabinoids allowing them to work better as medicine.  CBD is also not water soluble similar to other components of the plant a solvent such as pentane or hexane can be used to extract it in pure forms for conducting lab studies. It has also been shown that CBD can be converted into THC when placed under acidic conditions. CBD at room temperature is a clear crystal with no smell and very little to no flavor. When heated to the point of removing the carbolic acid it can turn into a clear liquid or when exposed oxygen it turns to a reddish hue.

Introduction to Cannabinoids

To start to understand how cannabis effects our body first we need to understand our endocannabinoid system and what it controls. We will also go over certain Cannabinoids and their effects on the body. The endocannabinoid system is made up of a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the brain as well as the central and peripheral nervous system of mammals. Cannabinoids control the homeostasis of the body and help to regulate functions of both organs and tissue. So since we have a endocannabinoid system we are able to take in phytocannabinoids which come from outside the body and have them actually effect our brain and body functions as well. Some cannabinoids are psychoactive and some are not. An example of a cannabinoid that effects the brain is THC this is also the most talked about cannabinoid and tends to get most of the attention. However recently CBD had been gaining in popularity among researchers. This is because CBD can have great effects on people who suffer from seizures or other symptoms of epilepsy. This can include but not limited to lowering the number of and severity of these seizures. It can also lower the psychoactive effects of other cannabinoids allowing THC to fight cancer without leaving the patient in a haze for hours after treatment. This helps people keep up their weight and appetite which also increases the effectiveness of other forms of treatment.

Cannabis Legalization 2016!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This years Cannabis Legalization is here! With the 2016 elections over, we find ourselves with a list of new legal states. Probably the biggest of which is California. California makes up more than 1/10th of our population and has a huge influence over the country as a whole. Cannabis Legalization won here by a vote of 4,911,739 Yes to 3,854,453 No. This shows a huge change in attitude since the last time Cannabis legalization was voted on in California. This could be the grain of salt that brings the whole War on Cannabis to a crumbling defeat. With Proposition 64 we will see a lot of new regulations to the California industry and some are less happy about this than others. I can see both sides of this and understand what it means to each, but I also see the great impact this will have on our industry as a whole. We should begin seeing the tides turn towards federal legalization much quicker now than ever before! Other states to legalize today include Nevada, Maine, Massachusetts. This is bringing legalization further east and creating a larger influence in our favor with states that have only considered legalizing CBD and other marijuana and hemp derivatives. Possibly as important as all of this is that Florida OK’ed legalization of Medical Marijuana moving the south east closer to legalizing it further. This plus recent advancements to the Hemp industry in states like North Carolina we really are seeing the national shift move in our favor. Cannabis legalization is what Califari is all about and moving this industry and our freedom forward is our mission!

Cannabis legalization is bringing this plant further into the mainstream.

Here is a quick rundown of states that have legalized Cannabis only for medical use:

Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Arizona, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana and Florida.

Here are the states that have legalized recreational cannabis:

Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Colorado, Alaska, Massachusetts

Lets hope for a few more to join us next year!

Robert Peterson gives us some deep Califari insight to the history of how the concept of “California Dreaming” has existed for 100s of years.  This story shows how mythology and legends intertwined with politics and culture shaped the future for this place on Earth that was once called Califia and was run by beautiful black man eating women!  This historical tale really shines a light on the fact that; when looking through the lens of time, we are clearly all one human race!

Califari is excited to be counting down to Reggae on The River 2016!  Our company was basically conceived at this event so it makes sense that we are back to debut our booth, which will be full of our wares and art works!  To celebrate our road back to the Eel River, we are busting out some old video gems from many years ago at the river!  We went deep back in 2002 with The Ghetto Youth Crew featuring; Ky Mani Marley, Julian Marley, Stephen Marley and of course Jr. Gong Marley!  That’s a lot of Marley’s and they were young and on fire and all on the same stage.  All these years later they have each broken out to huge solo careers and of course Jr Gong pulled down a Grammy and big ratings for his Welcome to JamRock…  Well this was way before that!!!  And amazing U Nah Mean?  Look for more Reggae on the River gems coming soon!
