Jack Herer by Tracie Ching

The H is silent but Jack was anything but. The strain was created by cross breeding a Haze hybrid with Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk cross. Sensi Seeds created the Jack Herer strain hoping to capture both the cerebral elevation associated with sativas and the heavy resin production of indicas.

The poster is the first officially licensed product of the Jack Herer Estate. Califari commissioned renowned poster artist, Tracie Ching to place Jack Herer as the rightful statesman on the freshly minted $420 Dollar Bill. Printed on hemp paper Califari pays homage to a fact Jack loved to promote, which was that our Declaration of Independence was first written on hemp paper. Hemp fueled the early American economy in many ways and here again when Califari sourced hemp ink for use in this poster tribute.

Califari scoured the art universe in search of the ideal artist to make perhaps the most important art entry to date: The $420 Bill no less, which was no small task and would ultimately require the skills of the one and only; Tracie Ching, who we were quite lucky to get!

Living and working in Washington, DC, Tracie Ching is a self-taught digital artist specializing in complex, engraving-inspired portraiture. Her work often involves a limited palette – a tendency-turned-style after years of working in the medium of silkscreen prints. While commissioned for a wide range of projects including editorial illustration, political portraiture, and gallery work, Tracie Ching is best known for her alternative movie posters and she continues to work with all the big studios offering her special take on many major super heroes and beyond!

As an activist Jack Herer argued for decriminalization. The Emperor Wears No Clothes, is Jack's highly recommended book that unveils cannabis history, as well as, economic and scientific value of the sacred cannabis plant, as had never been compiled before. He called out the blatant racism that led to cannabis prohibition in the 1930’s. He re-introduced the plant as a renewable source of fuel, medicine, food, fiber and paper/pulp that it can be grown in virtually every part of the world for medicinal as well as economical purposes.

He further asserted that the U.S. government had been deliberately hiding the proof. Widely regarded as the Emperor, King or President of all things legal cannabis it’s the legendary Jack Herer, who paved the way for the moment you are experiencing NOW!
